Regeneron's Veterinary Services group, located in Tarrytown, NY is seeking a Manager. In this exciting role, you will assist the Executive Director and Director in administering a program of animal care and use for animal research and production facilities. Core responsibilities include managing the laboratory animal facility and providing oversight of daily operations in conjunction with Vivarium Operations personnel.

A Typical Day in the Role of Manager Might Look Like: 

• Maintains Vivarium to inspection- ready condition at all times.
• Ensures staffing levels are appropriate to ensure proper care and compliance with department Standard Operating Procedures and policies.
• Advises workers regarding requirements for compliance with safety, and state and federal guidelines for operation of research facility.
• Monitors care and health of animals.
• Provides input with respect to hiring personnel and performance evaluations.
• Reassigns team to other assignments based on staffing needs.
• Teaches workers regarding procedures, such as feeding and cleaning schedules and documentation.
• Reviews work of personnel to determine established procedures are followed and to verify accuracy of documentation.
• Maintains accurate records and inventories related to supplies, equipment, and receipt and assignment of animals.
• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers involved in operations of animal research facility: arranges purchase of items, such as animal feed, bedding, and supplies.
• Oversees the animal care facility by providing work direction to Vivarium Operations staff
• Conducts inspections of animal facilities to ensure the maintenance of required sanitation standards; observe and report noticeable or unusual changes in animals.
• Collaborates on the development of animal care facilities processes and policies.
• Provides input and writes initial performance evaluations for assigned staff. Provides input into hiring, termination and disciplinary actions for team.
• Maintains facility documentation and tracking reports as necessary

The Role Might Be For You If You Have:

• Extensive knowledge and technical proficiency in standard laboratory animal techniques
• Extensive knowledge of laboratory animal medicine
• Knowledge of applicable regulations regarding the proper standards of animal care and use in a research environment.

Requirements

This role requires a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience with rodents and rabbits in a laboratory setting is required for this position. This position requires a DVM or equivalent degree. Biotech experience preferred.
